Company description

Due to significant demand for industry inputs, high import costs and large local resource and energy base, the chemical industry faces vast potential and pressure for expansion including for new product groups.

70% of CIC’s revenue derives from cement, the remainder from pesticides, caustic soda, sulphuric acid and other products. CIC started the development of new projects for fertilizer and rubber, building on the large agricultural base of the country.

Overview of business units

CIC has 5 business units producing various basic and consumer chemical products:

• Mugher Cement Factory produces ordinary Portland (OPC) & Portland Pozzolana (PPC) cement.

• Adami Tulu Pesticide Processing Factory produces liquid, dust, and water-dispersible powder pesticides.

• Awash Melkassa Chemical Factory is engaged in the production of aluminum sulfate, sulfuric acid & hydrogen peroxide.

• Batu Caustic Soda produces 5 main products (caustic Soda, quick lime, hydrated lime, magnesium oxide, and sodium hypochlorite) and 2 by-products (crushed & screened limestone and precipitated calcium carbonate).

• Gomma rubber tree development project is in the process of starting operation.

EMPBC has pioneered a number of Ethiopian industry advances the first mechanized gold mining to discovering major mining belts across the country. It been among the top producers of Tantalum worldwide and covers about 10% market share globally.

Gold, Tantalum, Lithium, Platinum, Coper, Soda ash, Gemstone, Kaolin, Feldspar, Bentonite, Dolomite, Diatomite, Quartz, Salt, and Oil and Gas.

Ethio-Engineering Group (EEG) is a Governmental  business enterprise re-established in September 2020 under the FDRE Council of Ministers regulation No. 475/2020.

EEG is, engaged, among others, in manufacturing and trading of automotive products, Agricultural machineries, Construction machineries, power and electronics equipment, metal and metal products, and Plastic and polymer products.
